Kevin’s Birthday

 

Today Kevin took matters into his own hands and organized a birthday party for himself.  Sometimes a mans gotta do what a mans gotta to do.  He invited us over for a nice spaghetti dinner at Grandma and Grandpa’s . 

 

Brian and Dejah came, and so did Nate, Lindsay and baby Craig.  Kevin can still blow out the candles with one breath.  Karen and Wendy were here as well.

Marsha was here and so was photophobic Connie.  Scott came up for the long weekend and took the role of executive pasta chef.  We had a great time.

New camera and Chinese food

I got an early Christmas present today; a new camera! We ordered a Canon PowerShot SX10. All I can say that it is fabulous! I still haven't got the hang of all the features, but so far it has performed admirably. I'm especially impressed with how well it's done indoors at night with bad lighting.

Shirley Temple has nothing on Saffron

Melinda went with her parents and most of her siblings to the temple this evening while I stayed home with the kids. They dropped by after with Chinese food and we had a little impromptu party.

Sunday dinner

Saffron didn't mind the cold this week. Here she is outside playing with the kids. They took a break from school work one day to go outside and jump rope.

Grandma and Grandpa are in Hawaii so we had dinner at our place tonight. Brian, Dejah, Kevin, Wendy, and James came over and we had salmon, saffron rice, and mashed sweet potatoes, corn bread and brownies for dessert.

John, Emily, Ethan and Eliza came over later and shared cookies with us. We had fun playing games and chatting.
The whiteboard on the easel was a big hit with the kids! It was fun to watch them doing their joint art project.

Lifesavers

We are still all a little sick at our house, but we're getting better. We now to the coughing stage, but not so stuffed up. Hopefully by Wednesday will be back to 100%. I got to take a nap both Saturday and Sunday, so that was a good thing.

On Saturday Kevin called me waking me up from my nap. I was pretty groggy so I couldn't quite figure out what was going on. He asked me if I had any lifesavers. The conversation went like this.

Kevin: Do you guys have any lifesavers?
Me: No.
Kevin: Do you know where you can get them?
Me: The candy isle in the grocery store.
Kevin: How much do they cost?
Me: I think they're under $2.
Kevin: Wow.
Me: ???
Kevin: But I think I want a cool one that flips open? Do they have those?
Me: Wait what are you talking about? Did you say lifesavers or Light Sabers?
Kevin: Light Sabers.
Me: Oh, that makes more sense. Yes we have light sabers.
